Elementary Counselor

Summary
Willow Ridge Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a full-time counselor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive counseling services to students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes emotional, social, and academic growth. This role involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and school staff to address the needs of students and enhance their overall well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students, addressing academic, social, and emotional challenges.
  • Develop and implement school-wide programs and initiatives that promote positive mental health and well-being.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs and create appropriate intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support students in the classroom and provide strategies for managing behavioral issues.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for parents and staff on topics related to child development, mental health, and effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and interventions in compliance with school policies and confidentiality regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and community resources to provide additional support for students and families.
  • Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in counseling and education.

Requirements
  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged children in a counseling or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and effective counseling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment for all students.
