Elementary Reading Tutor

Are you looking for a fun, rewarding experience helping children? Then tutoring math at Sylvan is the job for you! Sylvan Learning of Beavercreek is currently hiring part-time teachers to teach reading and math. These positions are after school from 3:30-7:30 PM. Additional sessions are also provided on Saturday mornings from 9:30-12:30. As a Sylvan Teacher, you will be trained in the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group setting (3-4 students max). No outside lesson planning or grading of papers is required.

The Sylvan Teacher is responsible for creating robust learning experiences for students and for evaluating student progress on each assignment. Job functions include:

· Greet students and initiate instruction to personally engage each student

· Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan program(s)

· Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignments

· Use praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn

· Motivate students with Sylvan tokens based on their achievements

· Communicate specific student needs to Center staff

Qualifications required for a Sylvan Teacher include:

· Four-year degree or equivalent in a discipline related to a specific program

· State teaching credentials (current or expired)

· 2+ years of teaching experience is preferred
