Elevator Technician

Position Title: Elevator & Escalator Inspector (Lift Inspector)

Department: 3rd Party Inspection

Inspection / Engineering / HSE

Reports To: Inspection Manager / Technical Manager

Role Overview

The Elevator & Escalator Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections, testing, and certification of vertical transportation systems including passenger lifts, freight elevators, escalators, and moving walkways. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, international standards, and client safety requirements. EIAC experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing

Conduct periodic, initial, and renewal inspections of elevators and escalators.

Perform load testing, brake testing, and safety device verification.

Inspect mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Assess compliance with local authority and international standards

Witness third-party testing and commissioning.

Compliance & Reporting

Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings and recommendations.

Issue certificates of conformity or non-conformity through our digital software

Identify safety risks and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements.

Technical Evaluation

Evaluate lift installation quality and modernization works.

Review drawings and technical documentation.

Provide technical advice to clients and contractors.

Client & Authority Coordination

Liaise with building owners, facility managers, and contractors.

Coordinate with government authorities for approvals.

Support audits and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

Certifications (Preferred)

LEEA / IRCA / ISO Lead Auditor (advantageous).

Local authority approval (e.g., municipality, civil defence depending on country).

Experience with EN 81, ISO, or ASME standards. EIAC Experience is preferred

Experience

3–5+ years in elevator/escalator inspection, maintenance, or installation.

Experience with major OEM systems (e.g., Otis, Schindler, KONE, etc.).

Knowledge of safety regulations and lifting equipment standards.

Key Competencies

Strong knowledge of lift safety systems.

Attention to detail and hazard identification skills.

Report writing and documentation skills.

Good communication and client-facing ability.

Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Working Conditions

Site-based role (commercial buildings, malls, hospitals, residential towers).

May involve working at heights and inside lift shafts.
