Job Description:
As an ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Estimation Engineer, you will play a critical role in the planning and execution of projects that involve systems such as security, communication, audio-visual, and other low voltage systems. Your expertise will be essential to accurately estimate project costs, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for ELV systems including materials, labor, and overheads.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and scope of work to determine project requirements and costs.
- Bid Preparation:
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop comprehensive proposals and bids for ELV projects.
- Review tender documents and provide suggestions for improving competitiveness.
- Technical Support:
- Support the engineering team in selecting appropriate systems and solutions based on client needs and project specifications.
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and technological advancements relevant to ELV systems.
- Project Coordination:
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and product information.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
- Documentation:
- Maintain organized records of all estimation documents, including calculations, quotes, and correspondence with suppliers.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal use and client discussions.
- Risk Analysis:
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with projects and propose mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate design modifications to assess cost implications and feasibility.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, designers, and installation teams to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate effectively with clients to clarify requirements and provide updates on estimation progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in ELV systems estimation and project management.
- Strong understanding of ELV systems, including CCTV, access control, fire alarm, intercom, and structured cabling systems.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with local regulations and standards related to ELV installations.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Certification in estimation or relevant fields is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position may require occasional site visits to assess project requirements and monitor installations. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
