Position Summary

The Embedded & Firmware Hardware Lab Incharge / Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the Embedded Systems and Electronics Hardware Laboratory, maintaining laboratory equipment, supporting firmware and hardware development activities, managing inventory, and handling procurement of electronic components, tools, instruments, and lab equipment. The incumbent will ensure the smooth operation of the lab and provide technical support to students, trainees, and project teams.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification (Mandatory)

  • Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE Electronics) from a recognized institution.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in:
  • Electronics hardware maintenance
  • Embedded systems laboratory management
  • Electronic component procurement
  • Inventory management

Residence

  • Permanent Resident of Lahore (Mandatory).

Key Responsibilities

1. Embedded & Hardware Lab Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Embedded Systems and Firmware Lab.
  • Ensure proper functioning of embedded development kits and electronic equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory discipline, safety, and operational standards.
  • Ensure availability of required tools, components, and consumables.
  • Support practical sessions, projects, and demonstrations.

2. Hardware Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and repair basic electronic hardware faults.
  • Maintain development boards, power supplies, soldering stations, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and testing equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs and calibration services.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities.

3. Firmware & Embedded Support

  • Assist in firmware uploading and testing on microcontroller-based systems.
  • Support development and testing of:
  • Arduino-based projects
  • ESP32/ESP8266 systems
  • STM32-based applications
  • AVR and PIC microcontroller platforms
  • Perform hardware-software integration testing.
  • Assist project teams during prototype development and testing.

4. Inventory & Asset Management

  • Maintain stock records of electronic components and lab equipment.
  • Monitor consumption of components and laboratory materials.
  • Conduct monthly inventory verification.
  • Maintain records of issued and returned equipment.
  • Prepare inventory reports for management.

5. Procurement Responsibilities

  • Identify procurement requirements for laboratory operations.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and procurement requests.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and vendors.
  • Compare prices, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate purchasing of:
  • Electronic components
  • Embedded development boards
  • Sensors and modules
  • Testing instruments
  • Laboratory tools and accessories
  • Verify delivered items against purchase orders.
  • Maintain vendor records and procurement documentation.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain laboratory logs and equipment records.
  • Prepare monthly procurement and inventory reports.
  • Maintain component databases and stock registers.
  • Assist management during inspections and audits.

Required Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of electronic circuits and components.
  • Understanding of embedded systems fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and development boards.
  • Basic firmware flashing and testing knowledge.
  • Ability to use:
  • Multimeter
  • Oscilloscope
  • Power Supply
  • Soldering/Rework Station
  • Basic PCB troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and inventory documentation.
