At the Aquila Services family of companies, our Communications Specialists are the center of all of our operations and the key to what helps us run smoothly and efficiently. Current opening is for Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays from 1800-0600 and a four-hour Wednesday partial shift OR Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1800-0600 and a four-hour Wednesday partial shift (40 weekly hours).

```Duties```
- Receive and prioritize calls for medical transport from the public and other agencies
- Gather pertinent information and accurately enter it into the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system
- Dispatch appropriate personnel and resources to incidents based on established protocols
- Monitor the status of field units and provide updates as necessary
- Maintain accurate records of all calls, dispatches, and related activities
- Coordinate with other agencies, such as law enforcement and fire departments, to ensure effective response and communication
- Provide assistance and support to field units as needed
```Requirements```
- Proficient in operating phone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Experience in dispatching, preferably in a public safety or emergency services environment
- Familiarity with GPS mapping software is a plus
- Possess a valid certificate in dispatching, especially EMD certification
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols is beneficial
- Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with callers in high-stress situations
- Excellent transcription skills to accurately record information received over the phone
- Demonstrated phone etiquette skills with the ability to remain calm and professional at all times
- Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous for handling medical emergencies
- Strong conflict management skills to deescalate tense situations
