Emergency Medical Technician

Job Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing immediate pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency medical care to patients in critical conditions. The EMT ensures rapid assessment, stabilization, safe transport, and effective coordination with the emergency care team to deliver timely and lifesaving interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess patients’ condition.
  • Provide basic life support (BLS) including CPR, oxygen administration, bleeding control, splinting, and wound care.
  • Assist doctors and nurses during emergency procedures and resuscitation.
  • Safely transport patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, or ambulances as required.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations accurately.
  • Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment (defibrillators, oxygen cylinders, monitors, suction devices, etc.).
  • Ensure ambulance and emergency trolley readiness with adequate supplies at all times.
  • Follow standard emergency protocols, infection control policies, and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with emergency department staff, ambulance drivers, and patient attendants.
  • Maintain proper documentation of emergency care provided.
  • Handle patients and relatives with empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in emergency drills, training programs, and continuous skill development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma / Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent.
  • Valid EMT certification (as per statutory or hospital requirements).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory; ACLS preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in emergency care or ambulance services (experience preferred but freshers may apply).
  • Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-stress environments.
