Employee Relations Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Employee Relations Specialist to foster positive workplace relationships and ensure compliance with employment laws. In this vital role, you will serve as a key resource for employee engagement, conflict resolution, and HR program management, supporting our mission to maintain a productive and harmonious work environment.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

Coordinate recruitment efforts including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication. Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes to ensure successful integration of new employees. Manage offboarding procedures including exit documentation and interviews. Track probationary periods to support performance monitoring and compliance.

Employee Relations

Conduct workplace investigations related to harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and policy violations. Administer progressive discipline and performance improvement plans in accordance with policy and labor agreements. Provide policy interpretation and guidance to supervisors and employees.

Labor Relations Administration

Administer collective bargaining agreements, including contract interpretation and application. Manage grievance procedures, coordinate arbitration preparation, maintain seniority records, and support contract negotiations.

Engagement and Retention

Lead employee relations initiatives, coordinate annual training programs, conduct exit interviews, and analyze retention data to identify trends and recommend improvements.

Compliance and Documentation

Maintain accurate records of investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and engagement initiatives. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws as well as organizational policies and labor agreements.

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

3+ years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, or human resources administration

Experience working in a unionized environment preferred

Valid New Jersey Driver’s License in Good Standing

Strong knowledge of employment law and labor relations principles

Ability to conduct fair and thorough workplace investigations

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Strong organizational and analytical skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
