About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a highly motivated EMS Senior Technician to support building automation systems, HVAC controls, commissioning, and energy management initiatives across school facilities in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for troubleshooting HVAC and EMS systems, supporting commissioning activities, reviewing controls data, and assisting with energy optimization and preventive maintenance initiatives.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
OR
- Two-year technical degree in:
- HVAC
- Electronics-related studies
- Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in:
- Building Controls
- HVAC Controls
- Related technical field
- Understanding of:
- Computer networking principles
- Network configuration
- Troubleshooting and maintenance
- Ability to:
- Wire HVAC control systems
- Start up HVAC systems
- Troubleshoot HVAC maintenance issues
- Fundamental understanding of:
- HVAC operations within facilities
- Building automation systems

- Experience debugging:

- Building systems optimization
Responsibilities
- Assist with:
- HVAC Controls Design reviews
- Submittal reviews
- Review:
- Utility data
- EMS data
- Energy usage trends
- System alarms
- Identify:
- Recommissioning opportunities
- Retro-commissioning opportunities
- Preventive maintenance opportunities
- Low-cost/no-cost energy conservation measures
- Perform site visits to:
- Verify as-built conditions
- Investigate existing field conditions
- Implement:
- EMS system improvements
- Low-cost system solutions
- Controls optimization measures
- Troubleshoot and resolve:
- HVAC mechanical issues
- Electrical issues
- Controls system issues
- Respond to:
- Warranty calls
- Service-related troubleshooting activities
- Calibrate systems using:
- Electronic testing equipment
- Diagnostic tools
- Assist in managing:
- In-house commissioning projects
- EMS performance activities
- Support ongoing facility operations and maintenance activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned
