Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients physically and emotionally for endoscopic and ERCP procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained.
- Assist the endoscopist during ERCP and other advanced endoscopic interventions (e.g., EUS, polypectomy, stent placements).
- Monitor patient vital signs and sedation levels throughout procedures and recovery.
- Provide immediate post-procedure care, including patient education on discharge instructions.
- Recognize and respond promptly to complications or emergencies during and after procedures.
Technical Duties
- Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot endoscopy and ERCP-related equipment.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopic instruments in accordance with infection control guidelines.
- Maintain accurate procedure documentation, including patient records, equipment usage, and medications administered.
Patient Care & Safety
- Maintain a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered environment.
- Adhere to hospital policies, accreditation standards, and infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients and families about the procedure, potential risks, and post-care requirements.
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and fellow nursing staff for seamless patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when required.
- Support junior nurses and provide training on endoscopic techniques and safety protocols.
