Endoscopy Technician

• Equipment Preparation and Maintenance:Setting up, cleaning, disinfecting, and calibrating endoscopes and other equipment according to manufacturer and facility standards.
• Assisting During Procedures:Supporting physicians and nurses during procedures, including passing instruments, positioning patients, and monitoring vital signs.
• Patient Care:Assisting patients with preparation, ensuring their comfort and safety during the procedure, and potentially collecting specimens.
• Sterilization and Infection Control:Maintaining a sterile environment, cleaning and sterilizing equipment after procedures, and following infection control protocols.
• Inventory and Documentation:Managing equipment and supply inventories, documenting procedures, and maintaining accurate records.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills:Proficiency in handling and maintaining endoscopic equipment, understanding sterilization procedures, and assisting with various endoscopic techniques.
• Communication Skills:Effective communication with physicians, nurses, and patients, as well as the ability to follow instructions and document procedures accurately.
• Attention to Detail:Ensuring thorough cleaning, proper equipment setup, and accurate record-keeping.
• Physical Stamina:The ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning and movement.
• Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology:Understanding basic human anatomy and physiology, particularly related to the gastrointestinal system.

Career Advancement:Endoscopy technicians may advance to roles with greater responsibility, such as:

• Senior Technician:Taking on more complex tasks, training junior technicians, and potentially managing equipment inventory.
