General Job information Wildland firefighting is extremely demanding both physically and emotionally. Wildland firefighting consists of long, stressful days of arduous work. Crewmembers are expected to participate in all aspects of fire suppression while we are on a fire assignment. These include initial attack, extended attack, fire line construction, hose lay operations, firing operations, mop-up, and keeping the trucks clean/operational. Additionally, the time commitment can be enormous, but the rewards are equally gratifying. Working upwards of 100 days during the summer can be both satisfying and lucrative. It is important that applicants be able to commit to working these long days for the duration of the Wildland fire season which typically lasts from June to November. If you are interested in obtaining a position on one of these engines you need to be a team player, self-motivated, self-disciplined, and a hard worker. This is a very strenuous position, and you will breathe smoke and dust.

We stay out of town at fire camps in tents for 14 to 21 days. Showers and food are provided at these camps.

******To qualify based on experience for higher pay applicants must have all certificates, Task books, from qualifying fires/incidents.

****** Positions require working outdoors in all types of weather. Work also includes prolonged, strenuous labor, working at heights, working around chemicals, working around forest fires, and working around loud noises from machinery or equipment. Jobs are performed in remote locations with no cell service.
