SMS India Pvt Ltd is a 100 percent subsidiary of SMS group Mönchengladbach, Germany with headquarters at Gurugram and offices in Pune, Kolkata and Mumbai with a state-of-the-art manufacturing and service workshop in Bhubaneswar, Odisha and a new upcoming state of the art production facility in Sanand, Gujarat.
- Create hydraulic system concepts and final designs for manifolds, reservoirs, pumps, motors, and actuators.
- Perform sizing, selection, and reliability analysis of hydraulic components to meet performance, safety, and lifecycle targets.
- Develop hydraulic schematics, component specifications, bill of materials, and installation/commissioning packages.
- Conduct pressure/flow calculations, loss analysis, and fluid dynamics simulations as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ATEX, OSHA/IEC, ISO 4413/4414, IS 10481) and working with other plant safety standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical design for controls & instrumentation teams to integrate systems.
- Support procurement with vendor evaluation, technical queries, and assisting site team for commissioning and FATs.
- Participate in risk assessments, FAT and commissioning plans; assist in troubleshooting and field modifications.
- Maintain asset data & design documentation.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills; adept at performing hydraulic calculations.
- Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to design documentation.
- Preparing technical reports and presentation materials for stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic theory, fluid power components & seals etc.
- Proficiency with hydraulic CAD tools (e.g., PTC Creo) and 2D AutoCAD drafting systems; familiarity with any hydraulic simulation software is a plus.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control philosophies; good reading of mechanical and process drawings.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills and with very good communication skills (both verbal and written). Should have a grasp of technical aspects, with an eye for detail.
- Should be able to interpret the meaning behind statements / action from the customer.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proactive in issue resolution, resilience under project pressure, and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to travel for site support, commissioning, and vendor visits as required.
- Projects span design offices, potential travel to customer sites, vendors, and fabrication/assembly facilities.
- Works within a multidisciplinary engineering team for forging plant industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 12-16 years of experience in hydraulic system design, preferably in heavy industry.
