Engineering Demand Director

The Engineering Demand Director leads the end-to-end demand intake, qualification, shaping, and translation of business opportunities into actionable solution scopes and delivery plans . The role partners closely with Business Development, Product, Engineering, and external stakeholders to ensure opportunities are well-defined, commercially viable, and delivery-ready —from early discovery through proposal development and mobilization.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Leadership & Governance

  • Own the enterprise demand management lifecycle : intake, qualification, prioritization, and handover to delivery/product teams.
  • Establish and run demand governance (forums, approval gates, decision criteria, prioritization model).
  • Define standards and templates for business requirements, solution briefs, ROM estimates, and proposal packages.

Opportunity Shaping & Solutioning

  • Lead early discovery with stakeholders to clarify objectives, scope boundaries, success measures, and constraints.
  • Translate business needs into solution options (high-level architecture, integration approach, implementation strategy).
  • Drive trade-off decisions : scope vs. timeline vs. cost vs. risk; propose phased approaches when needed.
  • Coordinate internal SMEs (engineering, platform, security, data, operations) to produce coherent solution packages.

Commercial Enablement & Proposal Development

  • Lead the development of proposals, statements of work, and technical narratives for opportunities (RFPs/RFIs included).
  • Own effort sizing and ROM budgeting with engineering and delivery leads; ensure assumptions and exclusions are clear.
  • Support commercial negotiations by providing solution justification, delivery approach, risks, and dependencies.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline view: opportunity maturity, next actions, blockers, and readiness.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Act as the single accountable leader bridging business stakeholders and technology teams in early lifecycle stages.
  • Manage relationships with vendors/partners where required (solution options, feasibility, commercials, mobilization support).

Mobilization & Handover to Delivery

  • Ensure each opportunity has clear acceptance criteria , delivery milestones, governance model, and resourcing approach before handover.
  • Produce or oversee creation of mobilization packs: scope, roadmap, estimates, risks, dependencies, and RACI.
  • Support early delivery initiation for complex programs to reduce churn and rework.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar (Master’s preferred).
  • 11+ years experience in demand management, solutioning, product/program discovery, or commercial enablement roles within technology/digital domains.
  • 5+ years in leadership roles managing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven track record driving complex opportunities from discovery to proposal/mobilization.
  • Strong experience working with engineering, architecture, platform, security, and data teams to build executable solution scopes.
