Role Purpose
To ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant electrical systems through effective maintenance and troubleshooting of VFD-driven equipment, motors, MCC/PCC panels, and basic PLC-based control systems, while strictly adhering to electrical safety protocols and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
-
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
-
Carry out preventive, breakdown, and corrective maintenance of:
-
VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) for process equipment such as fans, pumps, blowers, conveyors, compressors, etc.
-
Induction motors, starters (DOL, Star–Delta, Soft starters), and field control panels.
-
MCC and PCC panels including feeder protections, contactors, busbars, power cables, and I/O wiring.
-
Troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and OEM manuals.
-
Ensure proper cooling, ventilation, and cleanliness of electrical panels and drive rooms.

VFD Systems – Brand-Specific Experience
-
Hands-on experience in operation, troubleshooting, and parameter setting of one or more of the following VFD brands:
-
ABB (ACS150/350/550/580/800 series)
-
Siemens (Micromaster, Sinamics V20, G120, S120)
-
Danfoss (VLT Automation Drive FC series)
-
Schneider Electric (Altivar ATV 312/320/630/930)
-
Yaskawa (GA series)
-
Ability to:
-
Read and interpret VFD fault/trip codes
-
Modify drive parameters such as acceleration/deceleration ramps, PID control, current limits, torque limits, and braking functions
-
Reset faults related to overcurrent, overvoltage, earth fault, thermal overload, and communication errors
-
Coordinate with OEM service engineers for advanced drive issues and firmware updates
-
Perform VFD health checks, including:
-
Fan operation and filter cleaning
-
IGBT temperature monitoring
-
Earth leakage and insulation checks
-
Harmonics and power quality observation

Basic PLC & Automation Handling
-
Basic working knowledge of PLC systems such as:
-
Siemens (S7 200 / S7 1200 / S7 300)

Allen Bradley (MicroLogix / CompactLogix)

Schneider (M221 / M340) – basic exposure

Ability to:

Monitor PLC inputs/outputs online
-
Trace basic interlocks and permissives
-
Identify field vs panel-side electrical issues
-
Assist automation engineers during logic modifications and shutdown activities
-
Basic HMI/SCADA navigation for alarm monitoring and status checks.

Motor & Panel Maintenance
-
Motor maintenance activities including:
-
Insulation Resistance (IR) testing using megger
-
Bearing condition checks and replacement support
-
Alignment verification (basic)
-
Cable termination, lug crimping, and gland sealing

Maintenance of MCC/PCC and control panels:
-
Busbar tightening and torque checks
-
Thermography coordination
-
Interlock checking
-
Panel housekeeping and labeling

Safety, Compliance & Documentation
-
Strict adherence to Electrical Safety Standards, including:

LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
-
Permit to Work system
-
PPE usage and arc flash safety practices

Knowledge of relevant Indian Electricity Rules, IS/IEC standards.

Maintain accurate documentation:
-
Work orders in DMS
-
Breakdown and RCA reports
-
PM checklists and equipment history cards
-
Participate in internal and external EHS and electrical audits.

Coordinate with production, utilities, automation, and EHS teams.

Supervise electrical technicians and external contractors.

Support plant shutdowns, startups, and capacity enhancements.

Qualification & Experience
-
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
-
3–6 years of experience in plant electrical maintenance
-
Proven exposure to VFD-driven systems in manufacturing environments such as FMCG, food processing, chemical, pharma, or power-intensive plants.
