Job Description Summary
The purpose of the Engineering Lead is to work with the Lab Product Owner to provide effectively leadership and management of the teams in their Labs. Specifically, this requires setting the vision, mobilisation of the teams required to deliver it and ensuring effective delivery execution. With the Lab PO they are also responsible for all operational management activities including workforce plans, risk and issue mitigation and cost management. There is a particular focus on the ways of working and overall engineering experience, where the Engineering Lead is responsible for creating the right environment for effective delivery which will include the identification of blockers and action plans to remove them.

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Lead within Payments Services Platform at Lloyds Banking Group, to head up the Swift Lab and lead the core engineering teams within those, influencing our technical landscape for the future. You'll be responsible for further developing and delivering transformational change for our key payments data services, supporting our customers and broader payments data ecosystem across the Group and play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the vision for the lab and within Payments Services. This a great opportunity for an established and well-seasoned leader in engineering who enjoys a challenge, taking-on large-scope transformative change and understands the impact of working for a Group supporting its customers and critical UK payments infrastructure.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED…
    To be considered for and successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the below:
    Strong Engineering Leadership experience:
    Extensive engineering leadership experience with a track-record of providing software engineering and data engineering oversight, technical and people leadership across multiple teams and of having taken responsibility for developing and successfully delivering change management plans that support the organisation's overall data strategy.
    Being a visionary leader with a track-record of being a strong advocate for technology transformation and engineering excellence especially around data
    Track-record of developing strategic data solutions to long-term business needs by anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities.
    Understanding the resilience requirements for critical business services and important business services.
    Familiarity with processes and protocols for maintaining and recovering critical services when things go wrong.
    Familiarity with key aspect of data including building data products, data governance, data strategy, data architecture and data monetisation.
    Team Development, Mentoring, Coaching:
    Successful in building a high-performing team culture and in recognising and coaching talent.
    A passion for team development; allowing colleagues to develop in different/new technologies and mature in ways of working, resulting in a successful team.
    The ability to inspire delivery whilst encouraging simplicity and developing confidence & trust across the teams you lead.
    A relentless focus on delivering for customers and continually challenging the status quo to go further and faster is important. This includes learning from setbacks and turning them into successes.
    And any experience of these would be really useful:
    Previous experience within engineering in payments and/or within financial services especially around data would be advantageous but not essential.
