Engineering Manager

, the largest and fastest growing power transformer manufacturer in the US, has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager to manage design engineers team in India.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Engineering Leadership:
Lead the mechanical and/or electrical design of various types of transformers, with a strong focus on design Quality, Quantity and On time deliverables, ensuring designs meet customer specifications, industry standards (e.g., ANSI/IEEE, IEC), and internal quality requirements.

Expertise:
Utilize extensive experience in pad-mounted, medium and Power transformer design, including enclosure design, cable entry and termination, compartment layouts, cooling system integration, and security features.

Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless project execution from concept to delivery.

Mentorship:
Potentially mentoring engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the design team and lead a high-performing technical team.

Problem Solving:
Diagnose and resolve complex design-related issues that may arise during manufacturing, testing, or field operation.

Analysis & Simulation:
Conduct design calculations, VLN, Andreson, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other relevant simulations to validate designs and predict performance.

Prototyping & Testing Support:
Collaborate with manufacturing and testing teams during prototype development, testing, and validation phases, providing design input and troubleshooting support.

Documentation:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, test procedures, and design reports.

Metrics & Reporting:
Define and monitor engineering metrics (KPIs) for design quality, throughput, and continuous improvement. Report regularly to senior management on project status, risks, team development, and cost savings.

Customer Interaction:
Serve as an engineering liaison with key customers—supporting technical presentations, addressing design queries, and managing expectations throughout project life cycles. Participate in customer audits, design reviews, and acceptance testing.

Cost and Risk Management:
Balance design performance with cost optimization and manufacturability. Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies.

Talent Acquisition:
Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new engineers as the department grows.

Standards & Compliance:
Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards, safety regulations, and customer-specific requirements.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reduce manufacturing costs, improve efficiency, and address customer feedback.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure all design and engineering activities follow safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Promote and enforce a positive safety culture within the engineering function.

Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering from a recognized university.
Experience
-
15 to 20 years of progressive experience heavy electrical products such as Transformers/Switchgears.

Mandatory:
Demonstrable experience in Handling the Engineering function of pad-mounted transformers is essential.

Strong understanding of transformer theory, principles of operation, and construction.
-
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ANSI/IEEE C57, IEC 60076 series).

Familiarity with various transformer types transmission and distribution products and their applications.

Experience in renewable energy systems, electric vehicle technology, Data center or industrial automation.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), MATLAB, VLN, Anderson, thermal and stress analysis tools are a plus.
