About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams in building scalable, maintainable, and reliable software systems. This is a player-coach role, where you will actively contribute to technical solutions while providing leadership and guidance to engineers. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery, and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
- Drive the design, architecture, and development of scalable software solutions.
- Contribute to the codebase when required and provide hands-on technical mentorship.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce best practices around code quality, testing, and DevOps.
- Collaborate with tech leads and product managers to translate business requirements into robust technical implementations.
Project Delivery
- Partner with project managers to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical and process-related bottlenecks.
- Define, monitor, and analyze engineering KPIs to drive continuous improvement in delivery and system reliability.
- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews to promote a learning culture.
Team Management
- Mentor and coach engineers, supporting their career development and technical growth.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to hiring efforts and ensure effective onboarding of new team members.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
RequirementsExperience
- 10–15 years of professional experience in software development.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on coding experience.
- At least 2 years in a formal or informal engineering leadership or management role.
- Proven experience mentoring engineers and/or leading technical initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).
Technical Skills
- Proficient in at least one backend language: Node.js, Python, Go, or Java.
- Experience with frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Deep understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code tools.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments with shifting priorities.
Note: This role requires strong technical expertise. The Engineering Manager is expected to contribute hands-on to the codebase while leading the team, maintaining a balance between technical delivery and people management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹3,000,000.00 - ₹3,500,000.00 per year
