As an Engineering Manager (Backend) , you will play a key role in building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing backend engineering team that delivers reliable and scalable systems. This role requires a balance of technical depth, leadership, and people management—empowering engineers to grow while ensuring the backend architecture meets evolving business needs. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to drive alignment between technical execution and strategic business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing backend engineering team that thrives on collaboration and innovation. Support career growth through mentoring, coaching, and feedback
  • Technical Excellence: Drive best practices in software development, scalability, and system design. Be hands-on when needed—reviewing code, refining architecture, and guiding implementation
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with product and design teams to translate business goals into technical solutions that align with company priorities
  • Operational Ownership: Oversee the development and maintenance of high-quality, scalable, and secure backend systems
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of learning and innovation, encouraging process improvements and modern development methodologies
  • Delivery Management: Ensure timely delivery of features and improvements with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Experience: 9+ years in software engineering, including at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership capacity. Proven success delivering scalable backend systems
  • Technical Mastery: Strong background in backend technologies, frameworks, and distributed system design. Hands-on experience in developing high-performance applications
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and grow engineering talent while fostering a positive, collaborative culture
  • Strategic Thinking: Skilled at aligning engineering priorities with business objectives and driving measurable outcomes
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mindset: Passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and building systems that scale
  • Collaboration: Experience working cross-functionally with product and design teams to deliver impactful solutions
