Engineering Manager

What are your main tasks?

  • Take the lead in engineering activities in order to obtain optimum productivity and quality levels while complying with customer specifications.
  • Responsible for the overall development and administration of the Engineering Process.
  • Coach and develop engineering team members
  • Establish and review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement and improve productivity through waste reduction.
  • Responsible for achieving product target cost, improved efficiency, identifying possible production problems for existing products.
  • As a part of the plant leadership team, the Engineering Manager will be involved, process flows, labor and machine standards.
  • All proposed plans for changes to the process, equipment, molds, and tooling are to be reviewed by the Engineering Manager to ensure reliability and compatibility with existing Grammer standards/systems
  • Support multiple projects and work with the plant to maintain third party registration to ISO/IATF standards.
  • Support product launch strategy
  • Review equipment and process design and make recommendations
  • Develop workflow, effective layout and optimize processes
  • Assist in quoting and contracting tool sources to build support tooling
  • Evaluate and implement process/product improvements
  • Work with the team to develop tooling and poke yoke methods
  • Assist with training of both technical and production in processing standards
  • Develops short- and long-term strategy to support customer requirements
  • Authorizes engineering change notices (deviations), process alerts, purchase orders, equipment spare parts inventory, and personnel training requests
  • Supports plant safety rules
  • Approves department expenses and appropriations requirements

What are your qualifications?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Automotive industry preferred
  • APQP Process understanding (FMEA, Control Plan, etc).
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects/Kaizens
  • Demonstrated management skills
  • Able to perform problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • A self-starting, goal-oriented, customer-focused individual who takes personal accountability and is driven by the achievement of the business unit’s vision and objectives in accordance with the Company’s Leadership Values
  • Able to delegate responsibilities; objectively evaluates the performance of direct reports; and able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills coupled with the ability to remain rational and in control when confronted with difficult circumstances or crises
