Job Purpose
The Primary English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and age-appropriate English language instruction to primary-level students, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while fostering creativity, confidence, and a love for learning.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver effective English lessons aligned with the curriculum and learning objectives.
- Teach core language skills including reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, writing, and oral communication.
- Use interactive and child-centered teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and teaching aids.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage student participation, confidence, and critical thinking.
- Monitor student behavior and promote respectful conduct.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Assess student performance through tests, quizzes, classwork, and assignments.
- Maintain accurate academic records and progress reports.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents to support improvement.
Student Development
- Support students’ overall academic, social, and emotional development.
- Identify learning difficulties and coordinate with coordinators or counselors when required.
- Encourage reading habits and language enrichment activities.
Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with subject teachers, academic coordinators, and school administration.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and school events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (B.Ed preferred).
- Teaching certification/training will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of teaching experience at primary level (fresh candidates may apply where applicable).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong command of the English language (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of primary-level curriculum and child psychology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Classroom management and lesson planning skills.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, presentations, online resources).
