Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Accounting Support professional to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will assist with essential accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with account reconciliation processes, including bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and accounts payable/receivable management.
- Enter and maintain accurate journal entries using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Help with the processing of invoices, expense reports, and payroll transactions while ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
- Contribute to month-end closing activities by supporting balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing.
- Aid in the analysis of financial data related to budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial report interpretation.
- Support internal audits and regulatory reporting efforts by maintaining organized documentation and assisting with audit requests.
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or corporate finance as needed.
- Develop a foundational understanding of securities law, Wills, trusts & estate law, and other specialized areas relevant to our financial services.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Prior internship or entry-level experience in accounting or finance is advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and financial management principles.
- Basic knowledge of accounting software like Sage or Xero is a plus; willingness to learn new systems is essential.
- Understanding of GAAP standards and regulatory requirements including SOX compliance is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
