Entry-Level Graphic Designer

Hughes Media Corp is looking for a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our in-house team. This role is ideal for someone who loves editorial design, thrives on deadlines, and enjoys seeing their work come to life in print.

You’ll play an important role in shaping the look of our magazines by designing layouts, advertisements, and visual content that engage our readers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design editorial layouts and advertisements for our publications
• Collaborate with our creative and sales teams to produce compelling visual content
• Work directly with clients to ensure their ads and materials meet expectations
• Edit and retouch photos for print and digital use
• Assist with photography when needed
• Create internal marketing and sales materials
• Upload and manage articles on our websites
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud ( Especially in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work efficiently under deadlines
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• WordPress or web design experience is a plus
• Photography experience is a plus

Design Assessment

As part of the application process, please complete the following design exercise.

Create a full-page advertisement for Macktown Construction using information from their website: macktownconstruction.com. This should be a general informational ad and must include the following:

• Company logo
• Headline and supporting marketing copy
• At least one call-to-action
• One coupon
• Relevant imagery or graphics that support the brand
• Contact information pulled from the website

• Live Area: 8” W × 10.5” H
• Trim Size: 8.125” W × 10.375” H
• Bleed Size: 8.375” W × 11” H

File Requirements

• Submit as a high-resolution PDF with bleeds included
• Export artwork at 300 DPI
• CMYK color
