Environmental Inspector

We are looking for a qualified and passionate Environmental Inspector / Engineer to support the construction of the New Kigali International Airport in Rilima, Bugesera. This role will play a key part in ensuring that all project activities adhere to environmental best practices and national compliance standards—contributing to a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible development.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Conduct environmental assessments to identify potential risks and impacts

✅ Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)

✅ Monitor environmental compliance and performance

✅ Investigate incidents and recommend corrective measures

✅ Deliver environmental training and awareness sessions

✅ Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials

✅ Monitor air, water, and soil quality

✅ Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)

✅ Manage environmental permitting and reporting

✅ Engage with regulatory bodies, local communities, and stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills Required

🎓 Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management
• Professional certification (e.g. MMUP/UPDA) is an advantage

🧠 Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of environmental laws and sustainability standards
• Familiar with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, or similar systems
• Skilled in environmental monitoring, audits, and risk analysis
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• ERP knowledge (preferably SAP) is a plus

🛠️ Experience:

• Minimum 6 years of professional experience , including 2 years in an environmental role in infrastructure or construction projects
