Environmental Scientist II/III

Job Description

Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist supports environmental remediation and contaminated site projects across Alaska. This role performs field investigations, sampling, data evaluation, and technical reporting under ADEC regulatory guidance. Work includes supporting site characterization, cleanup implementation, confirmation sampling, and closure documentation for petroleum-impacted and other contaminated media. The position requires strong technical skills, field readiness in remote and cold-weather environments, and the ability to produce professional documentation suitable for regulatory submittals.

  • Preparation of technical work plans and reports, including compiling and analyzing data, preparing exhibits, and writing plan and report technical sections
  • Conduct field investigations and collect environmental data using various tools and techniques for soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling
  • Assist in the design and implementation of environmental remediation projects
  • Travel/field work (daytime and overnight) will be required throughout Alaska
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Work with a team of environmental scientists, engineers and construction personnel
  • Compliance with company safety standards and site safety standards in accordance with Rescon HSE policy

Experience

  • BS in environmental science/biology/ecology/environmental engineering/geology/natural resources or equivalent
  • Have 3 to 7 years of experience
  • Qualified Environmental Professional in Alaska (or ability to become such immediately)
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Experience in contaminated site characterizations, investigations, remediation, and removal actions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong technical writing and communications skills
  • An ideal candidate would be a self-starter, open to learn, adaptable to change, have a strong work ethic, and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours and overtime, as needed
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with management, staff, and clients
  • Ability to apply analytical/scientific thinking to define and solve problems
  • Experience working with geospatial data is beneficial
  • Ability to pass medical screening and drug test
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with a willingness to follow detailed instructions and learn new skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible work environment, spending time between working working from an office, in the field, or from home as needed.
  • Ability to execute field and office tasks and operate independently at times – specifically in field setting
  • Must be able to pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving policy
  • Ability to get a TWIC card and/or DoD base access card(s)
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork throughout Alaska in austere environments
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
