Position Summary:
The Environmental Services Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the housekeeping, laundry, and environmental services departments within a 134 bed long-term care facility. This position ensures a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of housekeeping, laundry, and environmental services staff.

Develop and maintain cleaning schedules and procedures for resident rooms, common areas, offices, and clinical spaces.

Ensure compliance with all infection control standards and regulatory requirements applicable to long-term care facilities.

Manage departmental staffing including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance evaluations.

Monitor supply inventory and order housekeeping and laundry supplies as needed.

Maintain proper handling and laundering of linens in accordance with infection control protocols.

Collaborate with nursing, maintenance, and administration to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness and adherence to standards.

Develop and implement policies and procedures related to environmental services operations.

Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Ensure staff are properly trained in safety procedures, chemical handling, and use of equipment.
Maintain departmental budgets and cost control measures.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental services, hospitality, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.

Previous supervisory or management experience in housekeeping or environmental services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Knowledge of infection control practices and environmental sanitation standards.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage staff, prioritize tasks, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Experience with housekeeping equipment, chemicals, and safety protocols.
