Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Head

A leading player in the sustainable steel industry is seeking an experienced and visionary ESG Head to lead its environmental, social, and governance initiatives across its operations in the UAE and beyond. This organization is committed to revolutionizing steel production through innovative, responsible, and sustainable practices, with a strong focus on reducing carbon footprint, minimizing waste, and promoting social responsibility and governance excellence.

Key Responsibilities

ESG Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with global best practices.
• Define ESG objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics.

Environmental Sustainability

• Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact (carbon emissions, water usage, waste).
• Ensure compliance with UAE environmental regulations.

Social Responsibility

• Collaborate with communities and stakeholders to drive social impact.
• Implement initiatives that benefit employees and society in the UAE.

Governance Excellence

• Strengthen corporate governance, ethics, and transparency.
• Ensure compliance with local and international governance standards.

ESG Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Prepare ESG reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., CDP, GRI, annual reports).
• Engage with investors, NGOs, government bodies, and industry forums.

Risk Management & Opportunity Identification

• Identify ESG-related risks and opportunities, particularly in the UAE context.
• Develop mitigation strategies and sustainable growth initiatives.

Employee Engagement

• Drive internal awareness and training programs to embed a culture of sustainability.

Operational Excellence

• Implement and manage Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
• Oversee documentation for product conformity certifications.
• Set environmental requirements in tenders and manage contractor compliance.

Reporting & Documentation

• Lead the development of Climate Change Reports, Sustainability Reports, HSE Reports, and other ESG-related documentation.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and strategic thinking.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• High attention to detail and project management capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental management, business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7–10 years of ESG or sustainability experience, ideally in the UAE or Middle East.
• Deep knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, CDP, etc.) and local regulations.
• Proven ability to drive ESG initiatives in complex industrial environments.
