We are seeking an EPLAN Design/Automation Engineer who will be responsible for the end to end engineering, quotation, and technical clarification of customized pre wired distribution boards (PWDB), with a strong focus on Bidmanager / EPLAN based engineering and digitalized engineering workflows.
The role is a key contributor to Eaton’s LV Digital Journey, working at the interface between customer requirements, engineering standards, manufacturing constraints, and digital engineering platforms (Bidmanager, EPLAN P8, Pro Panel, EEC). In addition to traditional quotation and application engineering activities, the role plays a critical supporting function for the EEC Developer, ensuring that engineering logic, macros, and data are fit for automated and rule based engineering.
EPLAN Engineering & Macro Development
- Create and maintain engineering drawings using EPLAN Electric P8 and Pro Panel.
- Develop and maintain standardized macros (electrical schematics and layout design) to support repeatability and reuse.
- Ensure macros are structured, documented, and compliant with Eaton engineering standards.
Support to EEC / ECC Programmer
- Act as a key engineering contributor to EEC (Eplan Engineering Configuration) development by:
o Providing validated engineering logic, rules, and constraints.
o Supporting the definition and validation of construction kits, options, variants, and dependencies.
o Ensuring engineering data and macros are suitable for rule based automation.
- Collaborate closely with the EEC Developer to test, validate, and continuously improve automated engineering outputs.
- Participate in correction loops to resolve issues related to data quality, macro behavior, or configuration logic.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Digital Engineering teams to ensure feasibility and consistency.
- Support the alignment between engineering, manufacturing constraints, and digital workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, lead times, and quality metrics.
- Work closely with stake holders (e.g. cable machine production team) to integrate wiring machines with Eplan.
Digitalization & Continuous Improvement
- Actively support the implementation and adoption of Bidmanager, EPLAN and EEC within the engineering workflow.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual engineering effort through standardization and automation.
- Contribute to improving engineering productivity, error rate reduction, and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnics, or equivalent technical education.
4+ years of experience in planning and engineering of customized pre wired distribution boards.
- Hands on experience with Bidmanager, EPLAN Electric P8; Pro Panel, Smart wiring experience is a strong advantage.
- Experience working in ETO environments and interacting with sales and manufacturing teams.
- Strong knowledge of local and international engineering standards for LV systems. (IEC 61439 etc.).
- Advanced CAD skills, particularly EPLAN P8 and Pro Panel.
- Understanding of engineering data structures, macros, and standardized design principles.
- Basic understanding of digitalized engineering workflows and automation concepts (EEC, rule based configuration).
- Working knowledge of SAP and CRM is an advantage.
- Strong customer orientation and solution driven mindset.
- Pragmatic, efficient, and able to work iteratively in complex system environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, developers, and cross functional teams.
- Interest in digitalization and continuous improvement of end to end engineering processes.
- Fluent in English; German is an advantage
