Job Overview
As the Equal Opportunity & Prevailing Wage Compliance Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our organization adheres to all applicable equal opportunity laws and prevailing wage regulations. This is an entry-level position with training provided to develop the skills needed to manage FDOT and municipal compliance requirements across our public infrastructure projects.
The selected candidate will learn how to manage certified payrolls, labor classifications, and equal opportunity reporting, and will have the opportunity to grow into an Assistant Project Manager role supporting daily project operations.
What you’ll do
- Prevailing Wage & Payroll Compliance
- Generate certified payroll reports from company accounting software.
Equal Opportunity & Contract Compliance
- Enter and maintain project compliance data in FDOT’s Equal Opportunity Compliance (EOC) system, including subcontractor and DBE participation.
- Prepare and submit required compliance forms to FDOT and municipal agencies.
- Review subcontract agreements to confirm inclusion of wage and EEO requirements.
- Communicate with subcontractors to help them remain in full contract compliance.
- Coordinate with FDOT compliance staff to ensure all reporting and certifications are up to date.
Training & Career Development
- Receive hands-on training in FDOT compliance systems, payroll review, and construction contract administration.
- Learn project documentation, scheduling, and communication skills to support future Assistant Project Manager responsibilities.
Shadow Project Managers to understand daily operations, project delivery, and client interaction.
- Review subcontractor and vendor certified payrolls for accuracy and compliance with FDOT, Davis-Bacon, and municipal wage requirements.
- Verify proper wage classifications, rates, fringe benefits, and deductions.
- Manage entries and approvals in FDOT’s Classification Request Manager system.
- Maintain organized compliance files, reports, and correspondence for all projects.
- Assist with responding to payroll audits, employee interviews, and FDOT inquiries.
Basic qualifications
- No prior FDOT compliance experience required — training will be provided.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer systems.
- Ability to learn FDOT systems such as EOC and Classification Request Manager.
- Interest in public works construction, project management, or government contracting.
- Team-oriented mindset and eagerness to grow within a fast-paced construction company.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in payroll administration, data entry, or compliance recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with FDOT, Davis-Bacon, or other public-sector labor standards.
- Understanding of construction terminology or project documentation.
