Location: Private Estate in Elmore County, AL (Near Montgomery)
Job Type: Full-Time (Monday–Friday)

Overview

We are seeking a reliable, experienced Groundskeeper to support the maintenance and upkeep of a large private estate.

This is a hands-on role focused on consistent execution of landscape and property maintenance tasks. The position works as part of a team under the direction of the Estate Horticulturist, with day-to-day coordination alongside the Estate Gardener.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-aware, and capable of working independently while contributing to a structured team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Landscape Maintenance

• Maintain turf areas including a pitch-and-putt golf course using reel mowers
• Operate tractors and finishing mowers for pasture and runway upkeep
• Perform mowing, edging, trimming, and general turf care
• Assist with tree trimming, hedge maintenance, and shrub care
• Support flower bed maintenance, mulching, and seasonal upkeep
• Perform seasonal cleanup including leaf removal and storm debris
• Assist with irrigation system upkeep as directed

Equipment Operation

• Operate zero-turn mowers, tractors, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, blowers, and similar equipment
• Utilize heavy equipment such as skid steers as needed (optional but not required)
• Maintain awareness of safety practices at all times

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform routine service including oil changes, blade sharpening, and greasing
• Maintain equipment in clean, working conditions
• Identify and report maintenance or repair needs

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in landscape maintenance or similar work
• Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment is a plus
• Ability to work independently and recognize routine maintenance needs
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Willingness to follow direction and maintain consistent standards

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Compensation & Benefits

• $15 per hour plus, based on experience
• Paid holidays
• Paid time off (accrued after one year)
• Stable, full-time schedule (Monday–Friday)

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience with reel mowers or fine turf
• Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance
