Position Summary
The Estimation & Quantity Surveyor Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take‑offs, and pricing for civil construction projects. The role includes evaluating tender documents, preparing BOQs, supporting procurement, and performing post‑contract quantity surveying tasks. The candidate must have strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of civil construction practices, and hands‑on experience in both estimation and QS functions.
Key Responsibilities1. Pre‑Contract Estimation
- Analyze tender documents including drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs for all civil works (earthworks, concrete, steel, finishing, infrastructure, etc.).
- Prepare BOQs according to project specifications and standards.
- Evaluate construction methods and propose cost‑effective alternatives.
2. Costing & Pricing
- Prepare cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Develop pricing sheets and ensure competitive and accurate tender submissions.
- Analyze project risks and include provisions in estimates.
- Coordinate with procurement for obtaining quotations and market pricing.
3. Tendering & Documentation
- Prepare tender clarifications and technical queries for consultants/clients.
- Assist in preparing technical and commercial proposals.
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and site visits when required.
4. Post‑Contract Quantity Surveying
- Perform site measurements and verify quantities against approved drawings.
- Prepare cost breakdowns, interim payment applications, and variation orders.
- Review subcontractor invoices and validate quantities.
- Maintain quantity logs, cost tracking sheets, and commercial reports.
5. Contract & Commercial Support
- Assist in contractual review and ensure compliance with tender and contract terms.
- Support claims preparation including EoT and cost impacts.
- Prepare final accounts and close‑out documentation.
6. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with engineering, planning, procurement, and site teams.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and subcontractors for quantity and commercial matters.
- Participate in project meetings and provide cost‑related updates.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in estimation and quantity surveying for civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and market prices.
- Proficient in QS/estimating software (e.g., CostX, Candy/CCS, AutoCAD for measurement).
- Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract standards is an advantage.
