Position Summary
The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, technical proposals, and material take-offs for fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety projects. This role requires a sharp eye, solid technical judgment, and the ability to evaluate drawings, specifications, and client requirements with zero shortcut thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents for fire alarm, fire fighting, and life safety systems.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor components.
- Perform quantity take-offs for all fire & safety system elements.
- Coordinate with suppliers to obtain updated quotations, pricing, and technical data sheets.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with authority requirements (Dubai Civil Defence, NFPA, etc.).
- Evaluate value engineering options without compromising code compliance or safety.
- Support the sales team with technical clarifications and BOQ breakdowns.
- Review tender addendums and update pricing accordingly.
- Maintain updated price databases for materials and manpower.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions when required.
- Ensure all estimates, submissions, and proposals are delivered on time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in estimation for Fire & Safety systems.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and DCD regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and estimation software/tools.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings with high accuracy.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a disciplined, structured work approach.
Preferred
- Experience with FM200, NOVEC, Foam Systems, Sprinkler Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems.
- UAE market experience with established supplier networks.
