Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Take-offs: Analyzing architectural and engineering blueprints to accurately measure and quantify required materials.
- Cost Analysis: Preparing and compiling detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and pricing sheets for tender submissions.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Sending Requests for Quotations (RFQs), collecting supplier bids, and evaluating the best commercial options.
- Risk Assessment: Identifying potential project cost risks, market fluctuations, and mitigating contingencies.
- Value Engineering: Suggesting alternative materials or construction methods to reduce costs while maintaining project quality and structural integrity. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and specialized estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Candy, or Primavera).
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local construction methods, material availability, and regional labor rates.
