A O Hardee & Son Inc, a premier Heavy-Highway Sitework contractor located in North Myrtle Beach, SC, is actively seeking a highly detailed and experienced Estimator to join our Estimating Department. In this vital role, you will prepare accurate and competitive bids on large-scale residential, commercial, industrial, and government infrastructure projects using industry-leading tools such as AGTEK Gradework, Trimble Business Center, and HCSS HeavyBid. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze engineering plans, specifications, and reports to develop project estimates
• Prepare detailed cost estimates using HCSS HeavyBid
• Perform quantity takeoffs with AGTEK and Trimble software
• Solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate bids for accuracy and completeness
• Attend site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings as needed
• Build preliminary project schedules and assess project risks
• Collaborate with other estimators and company leadership to deliver high-quality proposals
• Present professionally to clients, architects, subcontractors, and vendors
• Ensure on-time, accurate, and complete bids are submitted in a competitive format
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil/sitework construction
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, HCSS HeavyBid - required, AGTEK - preferred and knowledge of Trimble and AutoCAD a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience preparing both public and private bid proposals
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work well under pressure
• Demonstrated understanding of construction processes, logic, sequencing, and cost strategies
