JOB SUMMARY: Operate as part of the Estimating team to perform a wide variety of estimating duties to fulfill company estimating and pre-construction needs including compiling qualified bidders’ lists, soliciting bids, preparing estimates, quantifying and pricing labor and materials, and reviewing bids to prepare total project costs. Effective communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with owners, consultants and subcontractors is key. Organization, prioritization, and time management skills are essential to be successful in this position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
· Seek new leads which might be available via conversations with subcontractors, suppliers, developers, owners, or others.
· Assist Business Development with Proposal responses.
· Solicit Subcontractor and/or Vendor quotes and evaluate them for scope and qualifications.
· Check for bid compliance requirements such as Prebid meeting attendance, MBE/ WBE goals or preliminary bid confirmation response, sales tax requirements, bid breakdown requests, due date of bids, delivery, format of bids, bid bond and insurance requirements, etc.
· Visit the project site and make visual observation of available utilities, existence of rock, trees, existing buildings, general slope of the site, etc.
· Review project schedule requirements and communicate with subcontractors.
· Scope and tabulate subcontractor and supplier bids for conformance with bid documents.
· Perform quantity takeoffs utilizing On-Screen Take-off
· Prepare conceptual, schematic, and design development estimates from database information.
· Prepare cost estimates of the equipment, labor, and materials needed for completion of projects.
· Organize bid packages as a part of bid day preparation (CM or GC projects)
· Review all bid documents, for completeness and accuracy prior to formal submission.
SALARY RANGE:
$85,000 – 130,000
Salary based on experience and qualifications.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience preferred.
· 5 years or more of related commercial construction experience preferred.
· Proficient in general construction practices and principles; Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents.
· Possess diverse experience across varying construction market sectors preferred.
· Exhibits the ability to think strategically as it relates to business goals.
· Exhibits the ability to work efficiently, independently or in a team environment.
· Proficient in analyzing and collecting cost data.
· Proficient in estimating and CRM software; On-Screen Take Off and Sage 300 Estimating a plus.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel – Intermediate to Advance capability.
