Job Description
Title: Evening Services Librarian
Department: Library

Term: Full-time, 12-months
Summary/Objective
The Evening Services Librarian works with the Dean in the proper operation of the library in accordance with sound library practices and accrediting agency requirements. The Evening Services Librarian serves as the liaison to online programs, provides reference service, and manages the library during the evening and Sunday hours.
Essential Functions

Public Services
  • Responsible for the library during evening and weekend hours
  • Assist patrons with locating materials and by answering ready reference questions
  • Supervises student workers during scheduled hours


Reference
  • Available for research consultations for students and faculty
  • Assist library patrons with research inquiries, including the use of electronic resources, during evening and weekend hours
  • Participate in regular professional development relating to library resources

ODL Liaison
  • Act as a liaison between the library and ODL (Online and Distance Learning) programs.
  • Support faculty in ODL programs by providing library instruction to ODL students

Library Instruction
  • Provide instruction sessions for class groups or individuals
  • Work with faculty to develop and deliver subject specific instructional sessions
  • Build instructional videos on library resources

Faculty Responsibilities
  • The Evening Services Librarian is a member of the faculty of Lees-McRae College with all of the associated privileges and responsibilities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Competencies
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Familiar with ACRL Information Literacy Framework
  • Ability to communicate information in spoken and written formats
  • General computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Ability to learn new computer programs
  • Well organized

Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises student workers.
Work Environment
Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time position.

Required Qualifications
  • MLS/MLIS from a program accredited by the American Library Association


Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional graduate degree
  • 2+ years of academic library experience
