We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee events from initial booking through final load-out. This role bridges sales, production, warehouse, and on-site crews to ensure each project is executed on time, on budget, and to the highest standard. From corporate productions and galas to concerts and press conferences, you'll own the full production lifecycle: coordinating vendors, managing crews, overseeing staging and technical equipment, and making sure every show runs without a hitch.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of the event services or stage lighting industry. 3-5+ years of hands-on event production experience, with demonstrated ownership of large-scale or complex shows is encouraged
- Highly self-motivated, able to develop own tasks, take initiative, and work effectively with minimal direct supervision
- Able to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
- Able to assess situations and make decisions based on urgency and risk
- Able to set priorities, determine strategies and resolve issues
- Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
- Skills and experience in customer service best-practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills via in-person and electronic means
- Able to use typical office computer software and electronic office suite, electronic communication systems, and CRM systems
- Ability to communicate technical concepts orally with clients in amiable non-technical terms
- Ability to read, interpret, and define drawings, plans, schematics, specifications, and project scope-of-works
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools and power equipment
- Valid Driver’s License required. Able to drive extended length vans and box trucks
- Be willing to be trained to operate powered personnel lifts and forklifts
- Comfortable working at heights; able to climb ladder up to 12 feet height
- Ability to lift up 50 lbs many times throughout the day
LSC Event Production Manager General Responsibilities
- Utilize all available resources to sell services to assigned incoming prospects and attempt to turn those prospects into customers
- Present and sell company services to current and potential clients. Attempt to increase revenue through upselling existing customers
- Use negotiation skills to close and secure contracts with customers; resolve all customer concerns, issues, and disputes in order to maintain ongoing relationships
- Define project scope and objectives, ensure technical feasibility, maintain contact with signed clients, and manage changes to the project scope as necessary. Manage job-specific information throughout project lifecycle
- Balances the needs and requests of clients within the parameters that LSC can operate by; does not overpromise or commit to anything outside of normal business practices unless it is confirmed by management that LSC can fulfill this request
- Perform risk management to minimize project, personnel, and property risks. Report and escalate to management as needed
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects; ensure resource availability and allocation. Collaborate with other technical departments on large-scope client requests
- Lead a team of on-site personnel in order to realize specified project deliverables within given time periods, and have the ability to adapt to frequently-changing circumstances on the jobsite
- Create technical documentation for upcoming jobs including diagrams, plans, or plots
- Document work-in-progress and completed jobsites, and store photos in designated shared folder or gallery
- Take ownership of task assignment with minimal oversight
- Maintain awareness of industry trends to identify potential opportunities for company growth
- Update client information in the company CRM database
- Other related duties as assigned by management
Working hours and location
- Heavily determinant on event demand
- Occasional overnight travel required for events outside Richmond, VA area
- The Lighting & Sound Company’s warehouse is located in eastern Henrico, VA, near Richmond International Airport
Compensation
- Hourly rate of $31.25-36 per hour dependent on experience with overtime paid after 40 hours per week

Weekly Responsibilities
- Leading the setup & takedown of equipment at client job sites
- Contact clients, emails/phone calls/meetings from assigned leads, developing scope to client specifications, and delivering thorough quotation
- Organizing moving parts of jobs and filling gaps on the project management team as they arise to ensure as seamless a workflow as possible
- Repair or replacement of rental equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
