POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Director of Events, the Event Server (Part-Time, On-Call) is responsible for serving food and drinks at various types of events, while interacting with guests in a friendly and positive manner.

This position is a temporary, part-time role with an initial duration of six (6) months from the date of hire. The assignment may be extended or terminated at any time, in accordance with business needs and applicable law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Event Server) include the following non-inclusive list:

  • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and required training programs.
  • Verify that guests ordering or consuming alcoholic beverages are at least twenty-one (21) years of age by reviewing valid, government-issued identification, in accordance with applicable laws and Company policy.
  • Exercise sound judgment to identify potentially intoxicated guests and promptly notify the on-duty manager or supervisor when alcohol service should be modified or discontinued, consistent with Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training and Company procedures.
  • Provide a high level of hospitality and customer service to guests attending events, including but not limited to weddings, concerts, corporate functions, community events, and winery-related functions.
  • Assist with event implementation, including room and venue set-up, food and beverage service, breakdown, and post-event cleanup.
  • Follow WCW Standards of Service and approved service techniques, particularly when serving and clearing food, beverages, and event materials.
  • Participate in off-site events, including distribution, marketing, and promotional events, as assigned.
  • Perform duties necessary to maintain event equipment, supplies, and décor, including cleaning, basic maintenance, and proper storage.
  • When directed by a supervisor, assist with additional winery operations as needed, which may include seasonal decorating or supporting other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the employee’s qualifications and applicable law.

QUALIFICATIONS (Event Server):

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Riverside County Food Handler Card within one (1) week of hire, as required by applicable law.
  • Must obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification within sixty (60) days of hire, if required for assigned duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve guest concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Effective verbal communication skills appropriate for interaction with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company standards.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to maintain dependable attendance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, turn, and reach; and use hands, fingers, wrists, and arms repetitively to serve food and beverages, carry trays, and perform related event service tasks. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and perceive auditory and visual cues in a dynamic event environment.

Work is performed in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor event venues, on surfaces such as stairs, concrete, grass, and kitchen or service areas, which may be uneven or slippery and may involve exposure to hot food, beverages, equipment, and surfaces. Employees will be working within a vineyard setting where terrain may be uneven and may experience extreme weather. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
