Job Description
The Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (MICI-AHEC) at the University of Indianapolis seeks applications for an Executive Director. MICI-AHEC is a regional center within the Indiana AHEC Network, which is a health workforce development program designed to recruit, train, and retain a health professions workforce committed to rural and underserved populations across Indiana.
This grant-funded, full-time, 12-month administrator provides overall budgetary, program, and personnel leadership and direction to the MICI-AHEC in accordance with the mission of the University of Indianapolis. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Executive Director works closely with the MICI-AHEC Advisory Board and other academic and administrative leaders on collaborative initiatives.
The Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing a strong and sustainable mission that also expands funding for and increases the Center’s impact at the University of Indianapolis and in the broader community. The Executive Director leads the MICI-AHEC by providing vision and strategic planning.
The position serves as the official representative and spokesperson for the MICI-AHEC to internal and external groups, including University administration, the Indiana AHEC Network, area health providers and academic programs, and the community. The Director leads the future evolution of the MICI-AHEC as a viable and effective organization within the university, one that has a significant impact on recruiting, educating, and retaining healthcare professionals in underserved communities.
Experience
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of five years of experience in a professional role that includes supervisory responsibilities required; ten years of experience preferred

Knowledge and experience with health care, health education, or continuing professional development required.

The ability to engage various constituent groups in strategic initiatives is required

Demonstrated success in relationship building with academic, community, and health partners is required

History of leadership in grant development/acquisitions and other fundraising activities preferred.
Education
-
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in health, business, education, public health, or other related field required; earned doctorate in a relevant field preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Credentials

Valid driver's license and a clean or acceptable driving record according to the University Policy.
Essential Functions
-
Provides direct and indirect leadership in an 8-county area to establish networks and coalitions of local, regional, and state groups, including but not limited to health care providers, education providers, professional associations, community developers, and political leaders.

Provides overall direction, management, and administration of MICI-AHEC affairs in accordance with AHEC and UIndy bylaws and policies, as well as with relevant state and federal regulations.

Oversee and monitor all fiscal aspects of operating MICI-AHEC, including expenditures, receipts, and preparation of budgets and fiscal reports.

Work with the MICI-AHEC Advisory Board in developing and implementing plans and strategies that are consistent with the purpose, mission, and goals of MICI-AHEC and are responsive to health workforce needs in central Indiana.

Recruits, hires, supervises, develops, and evaluates staff for MICI-AHEC.

Confers with health providers in central Indiana to determine immediate and long-term workforce needs.

Coordinates educational opportunities relevant to MICI-AHEC with technical and professional programs offered in public and private K-12 schools, career and technical centers, community colleges, and four-year colleges and universities.

Provides a clearinghouse of healthcare career information and student opportunities for school and healthcare organizations, utilizing technology to drive outreach, data collection, and marketing efforts.

Seeks funding opportunities to support the continuous and expanded operation of MICI-AHEC.

Performs other duties necessary to further the interests of MICI-AHEC.
