Executive Director / Director of Operations (Assisted Living)

About Us

We are a rapidly growing assisted living organization operating multiple homes across the Milwaukee area, with over 100 beds. Our mission is to provide high-quality care while building efficient, well-run operations that scale.

We are looking for a strong, experienced operator to take full ownership of day-to-day operations across our Milwaukee-area homes.

The Role

This is a high-level leadership position responsible for overseeing all operations across multiple assisted living facilities.

You will be the point person for everything operational — staffing, compliance, occupancy, and problem-solving — and will work directly with ownership.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has experience running assisted living or skilled nursing operations
  • Is both clinically knowledgeable (nurse preferred) and operationally strong (administrator experience required)
  • Can take ownership and run multiple buildings without constant oversight

Responsibilities

Operations Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations across all Milwaukee-area facilities
  • Ensure each home is fully staffed, organized, and running smoothly
  • Standardize processes across all locations

Staffing & Management

  • Supervise and support house managers at each location
  • Oversee scheduling systems and staffing levels
  • Work with staffing coordinator to resolve coverage issues
  • Hire, train, and discipline staff as needed

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all facilities meet state regulations and licensing requirements
  • Prepare for and manage state surveys/inspections
  • Maintain high standards of care and documentation

Admissions & Census Growth

  • Oversee admissions process and work with referral sources (MCOs, hospitals, families)
  • Ensure timely follow-ups and move-ins
  • Drive and maintain strong occupancy across all homes

Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for escalated family concerns
  • Coordinate with ownership on high-level decisions and reporting

Problem Solving

  • Handle operational issues quickly and independently
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions

What Success Looks Like

  • Homes are fully staffed with minimal last-minute call-offs
  • Managers are supported and performing well
  • High occupancy across all locations
  • Minimal owner involvement in day-to-day operations
  • Strong compliance and smooth inspections

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience managing assisted living, CBRF, or similar facilities
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to oversee multiple locations at once
  • Highly organized and responsive

Preferred (Strongly):

  • Nursing background (RN or LPN)
  • Licensed Administrator or prior Administrator experience
  • Experience working with MCOs and admissions processes

Compensation & Growth

  • Base salary: $90K–$110K
  • Performance bonuses tied to occupancy, staffing stability, and overall performance
  • Significant growth opportunity as the company expands
