Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)

Join our privately owned dental practice as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where you’ll play a key role in delivering quality care to our patients. As an EFDA, you’ll work side-by-side with our dentist to provide efficient, comprehensive care while building meaningful connections with our patients. Your advanced clinical skills and attention to detail will help ensure each patient feels comfortable, informed, and well cared for throughout their visit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a wide range of procedures ensuring each appointment runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Provide attentive chairside support with precision—anticipating the dentist’s needs, handling instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clean, sterile environment through proper aseptic techniques
  • Take high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays), following all safety protocols and ensuring patient comfort and proper positioning
  • Utilize modern digital technology, including 3D scanners, to support accurate diagnoses and enhance treatment planning
  • Maintain detailed and organized patient records using Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical histories, clinical notes, and dental coding

Qualifications

  • Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
  • Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in chairside assisting and infection control practices
  • Proficiency in Open Dental, recording and documentation
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
  • Skilled in taking X-rays, operating 3D scanners, and performing medical imaging procedures safely and accurately
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport
  • Strong understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic setting
