Oversee day-to-day operations of dry bulk vessels and container shipments, including loading/discharging progress and coordination with agents, surveyors, ports and warehouses.
Plan and schedule shipments in line with the sales plan and stock levels across plants and overseas hubs to ensure on-time delivery.
Prepare and maintain accurate shipment, stock and cost reports in SAP, Qlik, Microsoft CRM and Excel; ensure data quality for KPIs and decision-making.
Review and approve third-party logistics invoices, monitor freight and related costs, and coordinate timely freight payments and month-end closing.
Assist in handling RFQs from the sales team, obtain and benchmark quotes from carriers/transport companies, and perform indicative freight and logistics cost calculations.
Ensure all import/export activities are compliant with Incoterms, customs and trade regulations, with complete and timely shipping documentation.
Monitor key logistics KPIs (e.g. OTIF, cost, demurrage, quality) and support continuous improvement and cost-optimization initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, forwarders, terminals and warehouses, proactively resolving service issues and bottlenecks.
Support laytime/demurrage data collection and basic analysis for bulk vessels when required.
Contribute to risk and contingency planning for route changes, port congestion and other supply chain disruptions.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, and Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in international logistics operations and planning, ideally within bulk commodities / mining / metals.
Hands-on experience with ocean freight (dry bulk and/or containers), working with ports, agents, and warehouses.
Strong digital literacy: advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confident working with ERP systems (preferably SAP), BI/analytics tools (e.g. Qlik) and CRM systems (e.g. Microsoft CRM); comfortable learning new digital tools and using data to drive decisions.
Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth analysis (cost to serve scenarios, performance and root-cause analysis, margin impact of logistics options) and translate insights into concrete actions.
Engineering / process mindset: structured, systematic way of working; able to map, standardize and improve processes, and contribute to building SOPs and best practices.
Proficient in written and spoken Turkish and English; additional languages are a plus.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; able to coordinate across sales, finance and operations and external partners.
Self-motivated, organized and results-oriented, comfortable managing multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail in numbers and documentation.
Demonstrated supply-chain mindset, balancing service, cost and inventory and proactively identifying optimization opportunities.
