Job Summary:
The External Auditor is responsible for examining and evaluating the financial records and operations of client organizations to ensure accuracy, compliance with applicable standards, and the integrity of financial reporting. The role involves conducting audits, preparing detailed reports, and providing recommendations for improving internal controls and business processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple client engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Planning and Execution:
- Plan and conduct audits in accordance with auditing standards and firm policies.
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and the accuracy of financial records.
- Perform risk assessments to identify areas of potential concern or weakness.
- Financial Statement Audits:
- Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
- Test and verify account balances, transactions, and disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable.
- Internal Controls Evaluation:
- Review and assess the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Identify control deficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance financial integrity and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with clients to implement corrective actions.
- Compliance Audits:
- Ensure that the client’s financial practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Perform specialized audits (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC reporting) as required.
- Audit Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, observations, and recommendations.
- Present audit results to management and stakeholders, highlighting key issues and proposed solutions.
- Ensure timely delivery of audit reports and maintain clear communication throughout the audit process.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on financial and compliance matters.
- Provide clients with insights and best practices to improve their financial processes and controls.
- Respond to client inquiries and resolve any audit-related issues.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with changes in accounting and auditing standards, as well as industry regulations.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance audit skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes and methodologies within the firm.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CIA, ACCA or equivalent certification is required.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in external auditing, preferably with a public accounting firm.
- Experience with auditing software and tools is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of auditing standards, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as needed for client engagements.
