POSITION SUMMARY
Okanagan Specialty Fruits, LLC. (OSF) is seeking a dynamic, growth-focused Facilities Engineer that specializes in food processing facility maintenance. This position is responsible for helping improve the efficiency of the plant through equipment and process design as well as supporting the maintenance manager in maintaining and repairing all production plant equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, electrical controls, robotics, conveyer systems and baggers. The Facilities Engineer will assist the Director of Operations team to maximize efficiency, improve quality, minimize waste as well as contribute to the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program. The Facilities Engineer will establish relationships with key vendors to improve service levels, explore alternative solutions that improve the operating standards of the plant. They will have a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and support the MM in developing a robust PMP program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzing mechanical and electrical problems using root cause analysis to improve equipment performance and OEE.
- Analyze equipment flow and workstreams to optimize production performance
- Prepare detailed proposals for equipment upgrades
- Creates and maintains library of equipment diagrams, operating instructions and other related documentation.
- Provide SME training to maintenance team.
- Assist in budget development.
- Manage labor and overhead within budget.
- Supports Maintenance Manager with Implementation and management of a robust Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Supports maintenance team by participating in equipment repairs
- Ensure there is timely and proper safety training for all Mechanics and Operators
- Schedule major maintenance needs in coordination with Maintenance and Production Managers
- Controls departmental budget for parts inventory
- Build and maintain relationships with key vendors
- Continuously researches and analyzes new equipment needs
- Creates CAPEX requests as required.
- Communicate daily with the Maintenance and Production Managers and all necessary parties to identify recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken or needed.
- Communicate with equipment suppliers/vendors to troubleshoot mechanical issues, including timely scheduling for onsite equipment vendor technician and onsite contractor support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Instrumentation & Industrial Automation Technology Certification and/or Manufacturing and Processing Technology Certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a food production/manufacturing environment in a leadership role; successfully leading processes, schedules and people
- Ability to operate CAD programs preferred.

- Proficient with Programmable Logic Controller.
- Proficient with Vertical form, fill and seal bagging machines.
- Proficient with Automated Apple Slicing Equipment.
- Proficient with Case Erectors, Case Sealers, Case fillers, Print and Apply Systems, Palletization, and Pallet Wrapping Systems.
- Proficient with Product Flow Conveyance systems.
- Proficient with Pumps, Motors, and Gear Boxes.
- Proficient with Electrical Trouble Shooting.
- Proficient in reading schematic diagrams and symbols.
- Familiarity with Refrigeration and HVAC systems a plus
- Proficient with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) for food production and safety.
