As the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for oversight, execution and leadership of the facilities maintenance to include the offices, all out buildings, fences, pastures, and other facility related items on property. You will be responsible for departmental budgeting, metrics tracking, and ensuring optimization of resource utilization. You will be expected to evaluate equipment and personnel needed to meet current demands, remove any process bottlenecks, and anticipate future needs.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain day-to-day operations of the facility, such as completing or delegating maintenance orders
  • Prioritize, delegate, and/or complete needed work pertaining to the facility, equipment, machinery, animal pastures, and grounds
  • Identify, plan, and complete projects including welding, minor construction, fence building, dirt work, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, etc
  • Obtain estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs for projects outside position capabilities
  • Set priorities for direct reports and monitor progress, efficiency, and quality of work
  • Create reporting for maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff
  • Operate heavy equipment to complete construction and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure that all areas worked in are clean and free of debris
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures and programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA and other relevant federals, state and local regulations
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and ensure proper reporting of all safety incidents and near misses
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, covering topics such as bloodborne pathogen and lab safety, hazard communication and emergency action plan
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, inspection reports and incident documentation
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging employee involvement, continuous improvement and fostering a commitment that all accidents are preventable
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management, which may not be listed above, that are necessary to accomplish our goal of improving lives by supporting scientific discovery

Who You Are & What You Bring

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in relevant field a plus
  • 3+ years relevant facilities maintenance experience preferred
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge skill and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems
  • Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
  • Skilled in operating heavy equipment such as backhoe, tractor, skid steer, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members
  • Time managements, organization and prioritization abilities
  • Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable for standing or walking for long periods of time
  • Basic computer skills.
