Job Summary
Church of the Heavenly Rest, a dynamic Episcopal parish in New York City, NY, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Facilities Manager. This role is responsible for managing the full scope of the church’s facilities, including the functions described below. The position will also be responsible for developing long- and short-term plans to address mission-critical facility needs. The ideal candidate will bring at least 8+ years of facilities experience, strong communication, technical skills, and a proactive approach to improving facility processes and procedures—ability to self-manage their time and prioritize their to-do list. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, CMMS software, and project management. The Facilities Manager will ensure that all Church facilities operate smoothly and in compliance with required safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Chief of Staff, establish, develop, and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the proper and safe operation of all building systems and components
- Manage the development, annual supplies, equipment and services budgets
- Oversee and manage the distribution of work for building staff regarding methods and procedures of work, schedule staff for all shifts and events, and professional development.
- Management of building projects through programming, design, and construction.
- Support the Chief of Staff with the management of all mechanical, electrical, structural, BMS, fire suppression systems, elevators and other building systems on-going and long-term maintenance through a planned/preventative maintenance plan.
- Work with the Chief of Staff to ensure code compliance for the building, including all environmental, safety, COO, mechanical, and fire-suppression systems.
- Interact with members of the community as needed providing clear communications and strong support.
- Act as a member of emergency planning and incident management, and ensure that necessary policies and procedures are in place, communicated, and are executed.
- Must be able to work various/flexible hours as needed, including evening and weekend hours, and to be on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.

Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of facilities experience including managing a facilities team, preferably in a nonprofit or church setting
- Training or licensing in one of the following areas: Plumbing, HVAC-R, or Electrical
- Prior supervisory experience managing scheduling and staffing for various events.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Possesses or is able to obtain NYC Certificates of Fitness as designated by the Church.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish respect, credibility and trust and maintain productive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to use discretion and good judgment in a variety of circumstances with proven ability to effectively, continuously and discretely work with confidential and potentially sensitive information.
- Knowledge and experience in applying best practices for work safety and be familiar with all local and state building codes, preferably in an academic setting.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, sit and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Proficiency in Office Suite and Slack.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
