Based in Worcester, MiTek specialises in the development of software solutions for structural timber engineering and the provision of steel connector products for floor and roofing systems. We also provide design services and a range of machinery for the timber engineering industry.
More recently, MiTek has expanded into offering dedicated services, providing estimating, design, and drafting support to construction businesses and their supply chain.
The Role;
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Technician to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of our Worcester site. This is a varied, hands-on role requiring strong technical skills, a safety-focused approach, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Routine Maintenance & Repairs General repairs to fixtures and fittings, including door closers, locks, hinges, windows, furniture, and replacement of carpet tiles.
Minor Trades Tasks Basic plumbing (leaks, taps), electrical tasks, and painting/decorating.
Facilities Inspections Regular inspections to identify maintenance needs, damage, or safety hazards.
Preventative Maintenance Maintenance of building services and equipment, including HVAC and point-of-use hot water systems.
Grounds Upkeep Maintenance of external areas, including basic gardening and snow removal.
Porterage & Setup Moving furniture, setting up meeting or event spaces, and handling deliveries.
Safety & Compliance Ensuring all work meets health, safety, and environmental regulations, including COSHH. Knowledge of electrical safety, working at height, manual handling, permits to work, and the ability to read and understand RAMS.
Administration Completion of work orders, maintenance logs, and reporting. Previous use of a CMMS / CAFM system is required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Handyperson, Maintenance Technician, or similar role
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and decorating
Desirable electrical qualifications (BS7671, City & Guilds Level 2 & 3)
Safe use of hand and power tools
Strong organisational and communication skills
Full, valid driving licence
Desirable Attributes
Relevant trade qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ)
Experience in commercial, educational, or healthcare environments
Knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessments
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Typical Working Conditions
Work carried out indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather
May involve working at height or in confined spaces
Flexibility required for overtime, weekends, or emergency call-outs
Key-holding and key management responsibilities may apply
Pay: £24,420.00-£36,000.00 per year
