KSB has nearly 180 years of service whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, Kindergarten to age 21. KSB prides itself for helping all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired to develop their talents, their skills and attitudes to become confident, competent and independent adults.

Currently KSB has a vacant Facility Maintenance Worker I in the Housekeeping Section. As a Facility Maintenance Worker I, you will perform janitorial and custodial duties in the maintenance and cleanliness of work areas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain bathrooms, clean fixtures and keep toiletries supplied.
• Clean windows and door glass inside and out.
• Wash lockers, walls and fixtures when needed.
• Clean and dust furniture, desks, chairs and tables as needed.
• Clean janitor closets and equipment daily.
• Scrub, buff and wax floors.
• Clean floors by dust mopping and wet mopping as needed.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets and stairs.
• Collect and dispose of trash in any area.
• Sweep and hose down debris from sidewalks and other areas.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
