Lorain County Safe Harbor is a non-profit domestic violence, human service, and social change agency, providing emergency confidential shelter and a wide variety of community-based intervention, education, support, and prevention services throughout Lorain County.

Job Title: Facility Technician

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Part-Time

Location: Community Outreach Center Office, but off-site work at all LCSH Facilities

Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Facility Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment. Your expertise will help support operations, special projects, and general facilities maintenance. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong repair facilities background. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering top-tier service across all facets of facility management.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities Maintenance

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Manage facilities maintenance tasks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Supervise or assist with subcontractors or team members during complex repairs or projects, demonstrating leadership and coordination skills.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of continuous improvement in facilities management.
• Proven experience in facilities maintenance
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and building infrastructure.
• Experience supervising or leading teams or subcontractors in maintenance settings.
• Proficiency in using CMMS software for work order management and record keeping.

Work Environment:

This position operates in both office and facility settings and requires frequent interaction with staff, clients, contractors, and community partners. The role may include periods of standing, lifting, and hands-on maintenance or setup tasks. Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours, is required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor and/or associate degree in business administration, facility management, project management, or a related field; equivalent professional or life experience considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility management, operations, project coordination, or related field (nonprofit experience preferred).
• Proven management experience in facilities management or industrial maintenance environments with supervisory responsibilities
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively while fostering a safety-first culture
• Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully completing complex projects on time and within budget
• Knowledge of maintenance management practices
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Strong conflict resolution and communication skills.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and commitment to applying them in all settings.
