Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Factory Superintendent to oversee daily operations within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction management skills, expertise in project scheduling, and a solid understanding of construction site safety and quality control. This leadership role requires managing teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining efficient production processes to meet company objectives.

Position Scope:

Coordinate job orders released to production from corporate to the factory to meet customers’ needs. Coordinate product flow throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for shop operation and interaction with Columbia office when Plant Manager is away. Ensure safety of personnel through training and upholding company safety policies. Maintain a manageable level of inventory. Coordinate and manage shipping of product. Uphold company policies. Train and manage production supervisors and shop personnel. Coordinate the daily tasks and scheduling of the maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed documentation related to project progress, safety compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide production schedules to the shop floor.
  • Ensure quality processes and procedures are followed.
  • Direct workforce in day-to-day activities. Provide hands on leadership as necessary.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and coordinate equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Recommend safety and quality improvements.
  • Obtain support from other departments as necessary.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required.

Major Tasks:

  • Understand status of jobs on floor, update shop level schedules daily if required and report job by job status to Plant Manager.
  • Participate in production meetings with other floor supervisors & plant manager daily.
  • Orchestrate the delivery of parts between departments and facilities with both verbal and written communication.
  • Assure shop continues to operate when plant manager is away. Answer questions, direct personnel as required to maintain that operation. Communicate to upper management concerning job problem resolutions.
  • Coordinate ordering and issuing of materials as required.
  • Train personnel for success in their respective roles.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Manufacturing Engineer and Project Engineer.
  • Coordinate shipping of completed products and parts.
  • Sustain 5S practices in all areas of responsibility.

Description of Authority:

  • Train and instruct as required to assure safety and quality.
  • Set forth order of jobs to be worked, based on all input.
  • Authorize rework.
  • Stop shipment because of quality issues.
  • Recommend hiring and termination of personnel.
  • Direct maintenance personnel.
  • Establish safety/quality initiatives.

Position Qualifications: Minimum requirements desired to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Supervisory skills 3-5 years.
  • Manufacturing background 1-3 years.
  • Computer skills 1-3 years.
